Close

Have you ever been so close to someone over time that everything they do annoys you beyond belief? Days and even weeks where nothing happens, and all you have is each others company. The endless wait for some action, all while you soon are about to go nuts over messy floors and smelly feet. There's a tension in the air though. In an instant everything might change, and you'll have to run not to get hurt. But you're trapped in a very confined space and there's not much room for running. For a while you're not even sure you're going to survive...

Well, I'm glad I'm not a submarine sailor, as the ones we saw in the movie Das Boot. This masterpiece of a German film tells the story about life on board a submarine during the WW2, and we watched it last weekend during the Kosmorama film festival. The really cool thing is that it was shown in an actual bunker built by the Germans during that previous mentioned war. Dora 1 is now used as venue for different cultural events.

After the movie we went back home. Or if I'm totally honest I must admit we loped halfway, at the changeover. As we arrived a little late the seats left were terrible, and there was no way we could see the subtitles behind all those heads. But even without getting the dialogues we had no problem feeling the claustrophobia in that sub... Anyway, back home we cooked ourselves a nice meal of pasta and tomato/minced beef sauce. So simple, so good. And no need for running.
